Biographical Information

Dr Kieran Flanagan is a Lecturer in Speech Pathology at Australian Catholic University. Dr Flanagan graduated from the University of Queensland's  Bachelor of Speech Pathology in 2003 and was awarded his Doctor of Philosophy in 2014 from the same institution. Dr Flanagan also holds a Graduate Certificate in Cognitive Science. Dr Flanagan in an Honourary Fellow of the Mater Research Institute. 

Dr Flanagan has worked clinically for over 10 years with children with speech and lnaguage disorders. He has particular clinical interest and experince with paediatric motor speech disorders. Between 2003 and 2014, Dr Flanagan worked in education, private practice and research settings. Since 2014, Dr Flanagan has worked with ACU in the development and delivery of the Bachelor of Speech Pathology Program.

Dr Flanagan is involved in research exploring the following topics:

  • Psycholinguistic modeling of semantic processing.
  • Language development in children born preterm.
  • The use of language sample analysis and narrative for the assessment of language of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian children.
  • The treatment of paediatric speech sound disorders.
