Biographical Information

Dr Jonathon Sargeant is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher in Child Rights Education, Inclusive Education and Classroom Management. Dr Sargeant has published widely in the area of children's education rights, student wellbeing and ethical research with children. His current research focus is on student voice, children's lives and their futures. He is particularly interested in developing better educational provision that incorporates young people's perspectives through ethical practices. 

His other research interests include children's wellbeing and the use of physical activity to bring about behavioural enhancement and improved social skills in school age children. Jonathon's recent work has focussed on educating the community on the benefits and necessity of giving children and youth a voice regarding their futures. Jonathon's previous work experiences included assisting teachers, students and families in addressing behaviour management issues through voice-inclusive practices and physical activity. His experience and research into children's rights, and youth priorities for the future, provide critical information for educators, parents and policy makers.
