Biographical Information

Jacqui Remond is a teaching academic within the School of Theology, at Australian Catholic University and a member of the SACRU (Strategic Alliance of Catholic Research Universities) Laudato Si' Working Group 2. From 2007-2017, she held the position of National Director, Catholic Earthcare Australia for the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference. In 2014 Jacqui Co-Founded the Global Catholic Climate Movement now known as the Laudato Si' Movement and in 2020 was invited by the Vatican Covid Commission to co-coordinate the Ecology Taskforce.

Formerly a lecturer in Earth and Environmental Science at Notre Dame University Broome Campus and a teacher in Catholic secondary schools in Victoria, Western Australia and New South Wales she has two main areas of theological expertise. First, she investigates Integral Ecology questions in ways that speak in, to and with the contemporary context, using an ecological hermeneutic and the critical lenses of postdevelopment and ecofeminism. Second, she has expertise in the theology of ecology and the promotion of dialogue for transformative learning and integral spirituality. This is fundamental to her teaching at ACU's Rome campus and to the research translation she undertakes in consultancies in the region of Oceania and Internationally.
