Dr Ian Elmer is a senior lecturer in the School of Theology in the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy. Ian undertook undergraduate studies in Church history and Theology and completed postgraduate work in New Testament studies, focusing on the letters of Paul and the Synoptics. Ian is widely published on the subject of Paul's letter to the Galatians and co-edited an important volume of collected essays on Mark's Gospel and Paul. Ian has over twenty years experience teaching biblical studies at both the undergraduate and post graduate level. Within the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy, holds the position of National deputy Head of School. He has worked closely with Catholic schools and parishes in providing professional development to teaching staff and scripture evenings to parish communities. Ian was one of the theological advisors for the development of Brisbane Catholic Education Religious Education Curriculum. He is a member of various professional bodies, including SBL (Society of Biblical Literature), ACBA (Australian Catholic Biblical Association), FBS (Fellowship for Biblical Studies) and HEDSA (Higher Education Research and Development Society.
