Dr. Emmanuel Nathan is a lecturer in biblical studies (New Testament) at the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy. He has just joined the faculty from Belgium where he was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies of the Catholic University of Leuven. His doctoral research was a study of Paul’s ‘new covenant’ language in Second Corinthians viewed in terms of the later parting of the ways between Judaism and Christianity. His post-doctoral research focused on studying Paul’s language of affliction and suffering from the perspective of disability studies. He has also recently been studying whether Paul’s use of prophetic motifs can be better understood within a framework of evolving notions of prophecy in Second Temple Jewish movements.
