Biographical Information

Phil is a Lecturer in Social Work (Field Education) at ACU. A major focus of his work at ACU is managing the field education unit on the Brisbane campus. He also teaches into the Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees offered at ACU. Phil holds a Bachelor of Social Work, a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, and a Master of Social Planning and Development from the University of Queensland, Australia. 

His social work practice experience includes working for the Queensland Government in disability services, as a social work clinician, as well as a student counsellor in the tertiary education sector.

Prior to joining ACU he held a Research Manager position at the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining at the University of Queensland, Australia. Phil's geographical experience in this field covers, Armenia, Australia, Fiji, Ghana, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea. 

One of Phil's early career highlights was spending six months, as part of the Commonwealth Government's Australian Youth Ambassador for Development program, in the Republic of Kiribati as a training advisor within the Office of the Kiribati President.
