Professor Patrick Keyzer is Dean of the Thomas More Law School at the Australian Catholic University. After graduating with honours degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Sydney, Patrick served as Executive Associate to the Chief Justice of Australia, Sir Gerard Brennan AC KBE.  Patrick has worked at five universities: the University of Sydney, the University of Technology Sydney, Bond University, La Trobe University and now ACU. Patrick has a PhD (Law) from the University of Sydney and has been a practising lawyer for thirty years and has appeared as counsel in many of Australia&rsquos superior courts, including the High Court of Australia in constitutional cases. Patrick has also led a number of United Nations human rights communications, including to the Human Rights Committee and the Committee Against Torture.  Patrick continues to practise in constitutional law and human rights law.  He was a Finalist for an Australian Human Rights Award (Law Category) in 2010, won the Vice-Chancellor&rsquos Human Rights and Social Justice Award at UTS in 2001, and a University Teaching Award at UTS in 2003.

Professor Keyzer has consulted extensively to industry over a thirty year career as a lawyer, including to Federal and State government departments, corporations and NFPs, and to individual clients.
 
As an advocate Keyzer has have appeared as counsel in many cases in Australian Supreme Courts, Courts of Appeal, the High Court and also the United Nations Human Rights Committee.
